Fair wear & tear guidance

We use the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) Guide to Fair Wear and Tear’ to set the standard we expect vehicles to be returned in.

If the condition of the vehicle doesn’t meet this standard, the collection agent will let you know at the time of inspection. We’ll send a letter to notify you of the charges.

Excess Mileage Charges

If you choose to hand back your vehicle at the end of your agreement, and exceeded the agreed mileage, you will be charged for every extra mile driven above your allowance.

Your agreed mileage allowance can be found on your agreement documentation.

If your agreed annual mileage is 10,000 miles, this gives you an allowance of 36,000 miles for a 36-month agreement. If your excess mileage charge is 14.90p (excluding VAT), you would be charged 14.90p for every extra mile driven over 36,000 miles.

Example of how much you may have to pay if you exceed the mileage allowance and wish to return the vehicle:

14.90p x 500 miles = £74.50(+VAT)
14.90p x 1000 miles = £149.00(+VAT)
14.90p x 5000 miles = £745.00(+VAT)

Should the excess mileage exceed 5000 miles over the agreed mileage allowance, the rate per mile may increase.
