Corporate Social Responsibility is at the heart of our business at Santander Consumer Finance. We look for long-term partnerships with local charities through which we can deliver a sustainable difference to our community. We are also active with larger organisations supported by our people.
The Charity, Sport & Social Committee was formed as a direct result of employee feedback, which made it clear that our people wanted a greater opportunity to give something back to the community and to support wider charitable causes. The committee not only gives Santander Consumer Finance the chance to make a real difference, but it also allows our people to develop their professional skills by organising and managing our extensive range of activities. The committee meets on a monthly basis and runs events aimed at raising money for employee-nominated charities, as well as running sports and social events to promote a lively atmosphere in the company.
In recent years, employees of Santander Consumer Finance, with the valued support of dealer and manufacturer partners, have raised in excess of £200,000 for charities selected each year by the committee members. Employees have also raised awareness and provided time and expertise to those charities where the manpower and skills of the team are even more valuable.
Over the past few years, Santander Consumer Finance has worked closely with Young Epilepsy, a charity based close to our head office in Redhill. Each year, many of our staff descend on the charity’s Lingfield residential school site over a two-week period to take part in the Big Build through Splash Community Projects. We have created a variety of facilities and structures which benefit the students and staff, including an outdoor dining and staging area, a canoe deck and outdoor sensory classroom, and a nature/activity trail.
