Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility is at the heart of the business at Santander Consumer Finance. We look for long-term partnerships with local charities through which we can deliver a sustainable difference to our community, and we are also active with larger organisations that are close to the hearts of our people.

The Charity, Sport & Social Committee was formed as a direct result of employee feedback, which made it clear our people wanted a greater opportunity to give something back to the community, and to support wider charitable causes as well. The committee not only gives Santander Consumer Finance the chance to make a real difference, but it also allows our people to develop their professional skills by organising and managing our extensive range of activities. The committee meets on a monthly basis and runs events aimed at raising money for employee-nominated charities, as well as running sports and social events to promote a lively atmosphere within the company. In recent years, the employees of Santander Consumer Finance, with the valued support of dealer and manufacturer partners, have raised in excess of £200,000 for charities selected each year by the committee members. As well as this, employees have raised awareness and provided time and expertise to those charities where the manpower and skills of the team are even more valuable.

Santander Consumer Finance has worked closely with Young Epilepsy, a charity based close to the Redhill Head Office, over the past few years. Each year many of our staff descend on the charity’s Lingfield residential school site over a two week period to take part in the ‘Big Build’. Within the Big Build we have created a variety of facilities and structures which directly benefit the students and staff, including an outdoor dining and staging area, a canoe deck and outdoor sensory classroom, and a nature/activity trail.
